Local News, Meet Cortland County, On Demand, What We're Talking About September 12, 2020On Saturday’s Meet Cortland County segment:
Tom Dumas from the Cortland Community Service Club and Nancy McLaughlin with the local Relay For Life organization discussed this year’s 24th Annual Corn-Ducky Derby.
Normally held in May, the event was postponed in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now set for a virtual affair on Saturday, September 26. A livestream will be made available on Facebook.
Organizers of the “Paint The Town Purple” event – held alongside the Derby over the past decade – have instead scheduled a special luminary service that will also be streamed live.
There is still time to get involved, whether it be purchasing a duck or a lighting a candle in honor of loved ones affected by cancer.
What began as a fundraiser for just one organization has now raised more than $350k to support the needs of more than 20 Greater Cortland Community Youth and Service agencies.
