
The Boy Scouts of America and the Baden-Powell Council will honor Norm Stitzel with their Cortland County Distinguished Citizen award on October 4th during their annual fundraising dinner held at the Hathaway House in Solon, NY.
Norm is being recognized for his significant contributions, service, and achievements for the Cortland community. He has served for the community as a US Marine, Health & Safety Officer for an environmental company as well as Juvenile Corrections.
He is also a current member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Marine Corps League. Stitzel has also completed seven missions to Washington DC as a chaplain and a board member for Twin Tiers Honor Flight. On top of that he has done over seventy military funerals as chaplain, and coordinated the annual Toys for Tots campaign for over 20 years.
Proceeds from the Cortland County Distinguished Citizens Dinner will help fund scouting programs throughout the county and surrounding communities. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased HERE.
