The opening of the 2022 season for largemouth and smallmouth bass (also known as black bass) will begin this Wednesday throughout New York State according to the DEC.
Previously, the opening season would have been the third Saturday in the month of June. The new season will now run from June 15th to November 30th.
“Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are New York’s most popular freshwater sportfish,” Commissioner Seggos said. “I encourage all to head out and experience the tremendous bass fishing we have here in New York, and while you’re at it, take a youngster along with you to make some great memories.”
The DEC also notes that there could be special fishing regulations in some waters and to review the current fishing regulations guide before heading out to fish. You can find the guide HERE.
