Officials confirmed yesterday that COVID-19 has forced the Great Cortland Pumpkinfest to be cancelled this year for the first time in its history.
Traditionally scheduled for the first weekend of October, the festival has been held annually since 1996.
Festival co-chairs Mindy Stevenson and Elizabeth Cole said their current aim is to return the event next year.
“We were looking forward to celebrating the 25th Great Cortland Pumpkinfest in 2020,” said Stevenson. The decision to cancel is not one we undertook lightly.”
“It’s hard to imagine the first full weekend in October without Courthouse Park full of our festival guests, crafters, vendors, and volunteers” said Cole.
GCPF committee members thanked everyone for their support in their difficult decision and said they look forward to seeing everyone safe and healthy next year.
Future updates will be posted at the Pumpkinfest website and on social media @greatcortlandpumpkinfest.
