The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a pair of separate Route 13 accidents on Sunday (May 24), both of which led to personal injuries and at least one resulted in charges.
A Truxton man was arrested for DWI just before 4 am after crashing his 2006 Toyota Corolla on Route 13 near Forbes Road in Homer.
Investigators say 35-year-old Everett Mcintosh was travelling north on Route 13 and lost control of his vehicle which left the roadway.
His vehicle struck both a utility pole and an earth embankment before overturning to a stop on its roof.
Mcintosh was brought to GCMC for possible head and internal injuries, then later found to be intoxicated and issued appearance tickets to Homer Town Court on June 9.
Just before 5 pm on the same day, officers responded to the entrance of the Price Chopper plaza on Route 13 in Cortlandville for a two-car personal injury crash.
Authorities say that accident was caused by 61-year-old Brian J. Kenna, of Ithaca, failed to stop at the traffic signal in a 2011 Nissan Altima and rear-ended a 2017 Buick that had already stopped lawfully.
Kenna had to be extricated via Jaws of Life by responding crews with Cortlandville Fire and Rescue.
He was then brought to Upstate Medical Center for a head injury.
Nobody else was hurt in the second crash, but the investigation is ongoing and officials say charges are pending.
