13th Person Arrested For Connection of Thomas Rath Murder

New York State Police say there has been another arrest in connection of the murder of Thomas Rath earlier this year. State Police have arrested 41 year old David C. Maycumber of Newfield after he was indicted by the Tioga County Grand Jury on November 20th.

Maycumber is facing charges of Murder in the 1st, Murder in the 2nd, Kidnapping in the 1st, and Intimidating a Witness, all Felonies.

To date, 13 people have been arrested in their connection to the kidnapping and murder of Thomas Rath. Rath went missing back on May 20th of this year in an area known as “The Jungle” in the City of Ithaca. A little over a month later, the ongoing investigation believed Rath was kidnapped and possibly murdered.

On August 3rd, the remains of Rath were found buried in a shallow grave on state land in the Town of Candor. Arrests towards the kidnapping and murder of him began 13 days later, on August 16th.

The investigation remains ongoing by area law enforcement.
