13th Annual Red Cross “Dress Down Day” To Be Held In Cortland County

Local News

The popular community tradition known as “Dress Down Day” in Cortland County continues for its 13th year this week.

Since 2005, the Red Cross of Cortland County has asked residents to show their American Red Cross spirit by purchasing a commemorative T-shirt to wear on a specific day.

This year’s “Dress Down Day” is scheduled for this Friday, November 2.

The front of this year’s shirt features a circle with the five areas of focus: Blood Services, Disaster Services, Health and Safety Training, Service to the Armed Forces, and International Services (see design on the right of this page).

T-shirts are $10 each, with proceeds supporting Red Cross programs and services.

The Cortland chapter was chartered in August 1916, and continues to serve Cortland County residents. In the past year, the Red Cross in Cortland County responded to 20 disasters assisting 76 clients, collected 3,019 units of blood, trained 1,090 individuals in life-saving skills, provided water safety and swim classes for 125 children, and served 12 active duty and veteran service personnel and their families through the Service to the Armed Forces Program.
