The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets announced on Friday, August 26th that $1.4 million dollars is now available to assist New York fruit, vegetable and specialty crop growers to produce products in an environmentally responsible manner.
To be eligible for the assistance farmers will be required to be participating in the New York State Grown & Certified program.
State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball said, “The AEM program helps our growers produce products in a manner that reduces risk to our State’s precious natural resources. Farms that become New York State Grown & Certified have already pledged their commitment to growing and producing sustainably. Now funding is available to help our farms keep those promises by further safeguarding our environment.”
You can find the request for proposals HERE, with the deadline for growers to apply by October 24th of this year.
