TC3 Director of Athletics Mick McDaniel has announced that David Stevenson has been appointed the head women's basketball coach and Rich Echevarria has been appointed the head men’s basketball coach. Stevenson has been the head men’s basketball coach for the past nine seasons; Echevarria has been one of his assistant coaches for the past three years. Stevenson takes over the women’s program for Jaclyn Sutton, who stepped down after four years. Assistant coach Jeff Riker will remain on the women’s coaching staff; assistant coach Brian Carroll will remain with the men’s team.

The Cortland Crush fell to the Syracuse JR. Chiefs 9-7 yesterday in Syracuse. Zephan Kash (Homer) drove in a run for Cortland, as did SUNY Cortland Outfielder Adam Smith. The Crush are at Oneonta tonight, with their next home game scheduled for Friday night against the Geneva Redwings at 7pm.

The Syracuse Chiefs lead the International League's North Division by 4-and-a-half games, after a 9-0 whitewashing of the Durham Bulls yesterday. The team will wrap up their current series with a matinee today.

Elsewhere in Minor League Baseball., Bowie shut out Binghamton 2-0 yesterday. The B-Mets are home against reading tonight. Also, Mahoning Valley routed Auburn 15-5, with that series concluding tonight at Falcon Park.

Carmelo Anthony has reportedly opted out of the final year of his contract with the Knicks and will test Free Agency. Anthony has said that it's less about money as it is playing for a chance to win an NBA title. Word is that the Bulls and Heat are on his short list of teams.
