Cortland junior pitcher Brandon McClain has been selected as a first-team Division III All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and a third-team All-American by the web site D3baseball.com, while senior designated hitter P.J. Rinaldi has been named a D3baseball.com honorable mention All-American for the 2014 season. In addition, McClain was named the ABCA/Rawlings Div. III Gold Glove winner at the pitcher position. The ABCA All-Americans and Gold Gloves were announced at a banquet Thursday night prior to the NCAA Div. III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin. Seven Red Dragons were named to the ABCA All-New York Region team. McClain, Rinaldi and sophomore Brandon Serio were first-team selections. Senior catcher Tim Panetta, senior first baseman Max Rosing, senior third baseman Anthony Iacomini and junior outfielder Vinny Bomasuto were picked on the second team. On the D3baseball.com All-New York Region team, Rinaldi was a first-team honoree and Rinaldi, McClain, Serio and sophomore outfielder Conrad Ziemendorf were on the second team. In addition, Cortland head coach Joe Brown was named the D3baseball.com New York Region Coach of the Year. Brown has a career record of 553-152-3  in 15 seasons as the Red Dragons Head Coach. He's led Cortland to eight of the program's 12 World Series appearances, including six trips since 2005.

In Minor League Baseball yesterday, Syracuse hammered Rochester 10-3. The Chiefs and Red Wings will battle again tonight in Rochester. Meanwhile, the B-Mets game with New Hampshire was suspended in the bottom of the second inning with Binghamton leading 6-0. That game will be completed tonight, along with a seven-inning contest.
