SUNY Cortland's NCAA regional baseball game vs. Farmingdale State on Thursday was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the seventh inning with Cortland leading 10-5. The game will resume, weather permitting, on Friday at a time to be determined. A meeting will be held Friday at 8 a.m. to decide the resumption time. Cortland scored four runs in the top of the first, one run in the third and five in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. The Rams scored five times in the bottom of the fourth, and neither team has scored since that point. Farmingdale was about to bat in the bottom of the seventh when heavy rain halted the game.
Weather continues to slow play at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Florida. After the second round from Wednesday was completed, a shotgun start was used to begin the third round. A thunder/rain delay, however, postponed the start by more than five hours, and the third round was eventually halted due to darkness and will resume Friday. SUNY Cortland Senior Rebecca Studin has completed eight holes in the third round and is four over par for the round and +24 for the tournament as of yesterday. Studin (Ithaca) has also been named a 2013-14 Division III honorable mention All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). In addition, Studin is a WGCA Division III All-East Region performer for the second straight year. The awards were announced on Wednesday, May 14, following the second day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Women's Golf Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., where Studin is competing as an individual qualifier. Studin is Cortland's first Division III women's golf All-American and the Red Dragons' first NCAA competitor.
