The nationally eighth-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team held Oneonta scoreless for 25 minutes, 17 seconds to start the game and went on to a 15-3 victory in the SUNYAC Semifinals Wednesday afternoon the Stadium Complex. The home Red Dragons won their ninth straight game to improve to 14-3 on the season and will host Plattsburgh, an 11-6 winner at Potsdam, in the championship game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The visiting Red Dragons fell to 5-11 with the loss. Sophomore Zach Hopps led Cortland with six points on four goals and two assists. Senior Joe Slavik recorded three goals and one assist, junior Mike Cantelli  tallied two goals and two assists and junior Benjamin Dunlavey scored twice. Seniors Stephen Burke and Tyler Chin and juniors Matt Savlov and Dieter Treusdell  each netted a goal, and junior Matt Rakoczy became the 50th player in school history to reach 100 career points with his assist early in the third quarter. Junior Scott Tota played the first three quarters in the cage for Cortland, stopping 13 shots and allowing just one goal. Senior Nick Costabile played the fourth quarter, making three saves. Sophomore Pat Baldwin  won 9-of-13 faceoffs and collected five ground balls. Tota and freshman Nate Beresovoy (LaFayette) registered four ground balls apiece, while seniors J.T. Foltz and Doug Meehan  each caused two turnovers

Today, the SUNY Cortland Softball team takes on Buffalo State in the First Round of the SUNYAC Softball Tournament at Oneonta.

The Syracuse Chiefs had yesterday off and will host Toledo tonight. The B-Mets game at Akron was rained out yesterday and Binghamton has today off.

In the AHL, Wilkes Barre/Scranton defeated Binghamton 4-3 in overtime and are ahead 2-1 in the Calder Cup series. Game 4 is Tomorrow night in Wilkes Barre.

Dustin Brown's Empty Net goal sealed a historic comeback for the Los Angeles Kings last night, as they beat San Jose 5-1 and became just the fourth team in NHL history to come from 0-3 in a series to win 4-3.
