Sports on the air this weekend: Saturday it's College Basketball as two Top 10 teams battle at the Dome. Syracuse will host former conference rival Villanova at 2pm ... with a 1:30 pregame. On Sunday it's the Jets season finale at Miami starting at 1pm ... with a noon Pregame.
The Jets beat the Cleveland Browns 24-13 yesterday. Geno Smith threw for two touchdowns, both to David Nelson, and rushed for another. Meanwhile, the Bills blanked the Dolphins 19-0, limiting Miami to just 103 yards of total offense.
The Syracuse Football team heads to Houston to take on Minnesota in the Texas Bowl Friday night at 6pm. Orange Punter Riley Dixon, a walk-on, was rewarded with a scholarship after tying for 5th in the ACC in Punt Yardage. Meanwhile, it's expected that Running Back Jerome Smith will play his last game in Houston, and enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
There's plenty of High School Basketball tournaments to attend this upcoming weekend. The Cortland Boys will host Homer, Dryden and Marathon on the 27th and 28th, the Fabius-Pompey Boys host Groton, Cincinnatus and McGraw that weekend and the Fabius-Pompey Girls also host a four-team tourney that weekend.
In other High School Tournament action after Christmas. The Cortland/Homer Golden Eagles host their annual tournament on the 28th and 29th, with Cazenovia, Frontier and Fayetteville-Manlius also participating, and the Cortland Wrestlers will be at Central Square on the 27th and 28th.
