Football on the air this weekend: On Saturday, SUNY Cortland travels to Alfred for the ECAC. North Central Championship Bowl ... it's a 1pm start and our pregame show starts at 12:25. Sunday, the Jets are in Baltimore to take on the Ravens at 1pm ... we'll have it starting at Noon with the pregame show.
SUNY Cortland Wide Receiver John Babin is this week's ECAC Division III Southeast Player Of the Week, after catching 8 passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Ithaca College Saturday afternoon. Babin's 41 yard reception for a touchdown with just over a minute left was the game winner. Also, Linebacker Matt Ambrose earns the ECAC Division III Southeast Defensive Player Of the Week award. Ambrose tallied 15 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, along with a forced fumble and pass break up on Saturday.
Up next for the Syracuse Orange Men's Basketball team: they head to the Maui Invitational starting next Monday. Their first opponent is the Golden Gophers of Minnesota ... the game begins at 5:30 pm Eastern Time ... the pregame show starts at 5 on Oldies 101.5.
Last night at SUNY Cortland, the Men's and Women's Basketball teams defeated Elmira College at home. The Women won 68-41, with Grace Williamson netting 16 points along with 6 rebounds, Meghan Touhey contributing 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Caysea Cohen adding 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The Men won won 63-51, with Garen Spndjian notching career highs of 18 points and 8 rebounds. Lamard Herron, T.J. Heeled and Blair Estafaa contributed 11 points each for the Red Dragons.
In the NHL, Dustin Brown scored a goal in the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 win over Tampa Bay last night.
