It's the Cortland/Homer game for the " Home-Cort Jug " at Butts Field to conclude the regular season in High School Football Friday night at 7pm ... with Pregame coverage at 6:45. Homer is the top seed in Section III / Class B-West while Cortland is locked into the 4th seed ... and both will go to the playoffs next week.
Saturday, it's a late afternoon tilt in Brockport between the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons and the College At Brockport Golden Eagles ... coverage begins at 3:25 with the pregame show for the 4pm kickoff. Red Dragons Cornerback Carson Lassiter won the NJAC's Defensive Rookie Of the Week award for the third time this season, by virtue of his 11 tackle performance against Montclair State last weekend, along with an Interception.
On Sunday, The Jets host the New England Patriots at 1pm ... our coverage starts at noon. Coach Rex Ryan reportedly told his troops to rest up for the game by " abstaining from household activities " until after the game.
Syracuse Basketball standout C.J. Fair has been tabbed as the Preseason A.C.C. Player Of the Year and Syracuse has been picked second in the conference in the preseason poll ... the announcements coming out of media day yesterday. Duke has been picked to win the league this season.
In TC3 sports yesterday. The Men;s Soccer team beat Cayuga Community College 6-0, and won the Mid State Athletic conference for the second straight year, and third in their last four. The Women's Soccer team also beat Cayuga C.C. 8-0, with Cortland Grad Erika Faberzak and Dryden alum Hannah Wildenstein chipping in assists for the Panthers. The Woman's Volleyball team lost to Jefferson Community College 3-0, on set scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-14. Cortland High alum Anna Belcher tallied 4 digs, while Dryden grad Brook Torrey chipped in with 6 digs and 4 assists.
In High School Boys Soccer yesterday, Dryden beat Marathon 2-1.
