On the air this weekend, our High School Football Game Of the Week takes us to Dryden, where the Purple Lions entertain Trumansburg this Friday night at 7pm. Our coverage begins at 6:45. On Saturday, SUNY Cortland heads to Montclair State, trying to raise their NJAC record to 3-0 and get above "500" overall. Coverage begins at 1:25 Saturday afternoon, with a 2pm kickoff. The Red Hawks lost to TCNJ on the road 21-16 Last Friday night. On Sunday, the Jets host the Steelers at 1pm .. our coverage begins at noon. The Jets are 3-2 on the season.
Mark Sanchez has undergone surgery to repair the torn labrum on his throwing shoulder. Sanchez awaits his NFL fate this off-season.
SUNY Cortland Defensive Back Andre Green is the New Jersey Athletic Conference and ECAC Division III Southeast Defensive Player Of the Week, after registering 14 tackles, 11 solo, a fumble recovery and pass breakup in the Red Dragons win over Kean last week. Freshman Linebacker Tristan Laurore tallied 10 tacks and sack in that contest, and is the NJAC's Defensive Player Of the Week for this week.
In High School Girls Soccer yesterday, CBA edged Cortland 1-0. In Cross Country, at the IAC Divisional Meet at Groton, the Trumansburg Boys and Girls won the team competitions. For the Boys, Groton's Jason Jenks finished 1st individually and Marathon's Dylan Brickner placed 3rd. Groton's Catherine Jenks finished 9th in the Girls run.
