On the air this weekend: High School Football on Friday night features Homer hosting Westhill at 7pm ... 6:45 for the pregame show, Saturday SUNY Cortland heads to St. John Fisher for a non-league contest at 4pm ... join us at 3:25 for the pregame, and on Sunday the Jets travel to Tennessee for a 4:05 PM start, with pregame activities beginning at 3pm.
Three members of the SUNY Cortland Football team received weekly awards from the NJAC this week: Quarterback Tyler Hughes is the Offensive Player Of the Week after rushing for 203 yards for two scores and passing for another 62 yards in the win over William Paterson. Hughes is the first Quarterback and 11th player overall to rush for 200 yards or more in a game for Cortland. Also, Defensive End Joe Kirchner is the Defensive Player Of the Week. Kirchner made 9 tackles, including 3.5 sacks and forced a fumble in the victory. Defensive Back Carson Lassiter earned the Defensive Rookie Of the week award with 7 tackles, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery.
We will know what time the Syracuse/Clemson game at the Dome, set for a week from Saturday, when ESPN decides. The cable network has until Sunday to announce what time the game will be played and on which of it's channels if will be seen on as part of it's deal with the ACC.
In High School Sports yesterday, Dryden defeated Groton in Boys Soccer 10-1. In Girls Volleyball, Skaneateles downed Homer 3 Sets to 1.
