The New York Jets have announced the Mark Sanchez will start in the preseason opener against Detroit Friday night. Geno Smith will be the second quarterback in the game. Rookie Cornerback Dee Milner has also been tabbed as a starter when the regular season begins next month.

Jets Running Back Joe McKnight was recently arrested on outstanding traffic warrants in New Jersey. He was pulled over for speeding and police then discovered two warrants for failure to pay traffic tickets. He was taken to the police station and released after posting bail.
In Minor League Baseball, Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes Barre completed a suspended game, won by the Rail Riders 7-6 in 13 innings. The Chiefs won the scheduled game 3-2. The B-Mets took two games from Altoona by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 and Aberdeen beat Auburn 10-9.
Major League Baseball Players Union executives apparently advised Alex Rodriguez to take a deal with the league if "The Right Number" of games was put on the table. There's no word on what that number was, but reports say the two sides were far apart.
