In an interview posted on the New York Jets website, rookie quarterback Geno Smith says everything is ok between he and incumbent QB Mark Sanchez. Smith said he looks forward to meeting up with Sanchez at Jets Camp in Cortland, which begins in 9 days.

The head of then Major League Baseball Players Union says that even if players like Alex Rodriguez are suspended as part of the league's probe into the BioGenesis Clinic in Florida, those players will likely not serve their suspensions until the 2014 season. The Union says that the investigation is for " non-analytical reasons " and does not fall under the agreed-upon drug prevention and treatment program, and that alters the appeals process of any suspensions, which could be " 5 or 500 games ".

The Major League Baseball All-Star game was won by the American league 3-0 last night. Mariano Riviera threw a scoreless 8th and was named the game's MVP. He also received a lengthy standing ovation from both fans and players before he pitched last night.

In Minor League Baseball it was Richmond over Binghamton 9-3 and Staten Island over Auburn 7-4.

Nets coach Jason Kidd will be placed on Interim probation and will speak to High School Students on Long Island about the dangers of drunk driving, as a result of a guilty plea to a DWI charge stemming from a 2012 incident. If Kidd completes his community service his charges will be reduced when he appears in court again on September 30th.
