SUNY Cortland Softball Coach Julie Lenhart and Assistant Coaches Abby Martin, Ann-Marie Pagano, Stephanie Hartquist and Larry Miller have been named the 2013  National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Northeast Region Softball Staff Of the Year. The Red Dragons won 27 of their last 34 games and finished second at the Division III Softball World Series this past season.

Johny Flynn and Fab Melo continue to struggle in their attempts to make an NBA team next season. In a game between Boston and Indiana in Florida yesterday, Flynn did not score and went 0-3 from the floor for the Pacers Summer League Squad, and Melo posted just 4 points in a rebound for the Celtics. Boston won the game 76-74.

Former Orange player Arenze Onawaku will get a shot with the Phoenix Suns summer squad starting on Friday in Las Vegas.

In Minor League Baseball yesterday, Buffalo Beat Syracuse 6-2 and Williamsport downed Auburn 3-1. The Binghamton Mets have a couple days off for the "AA" All-Star Game, which is tonight in New Britin Connecticut.

Former Syracuse "Skychief", and current New York Mets Pitcher, Shaun Marcum will have season-ending surgery in an attempt to relieve numbness and coldness in his pitching hand. The Mets hope for similar results to that of surgery performed on fellow Pitcher Dillon Gee which was performed last year.
