Alex Rodriguez went 0-2 in three innings of play last night for their Yankees Class "A" affiliate in Charleston South Carolina. It was the first game action for A-Rod since his latest hip surgery 9 months ago.

The New York Knicks are looking to shore up the power forward spot, and are courting veteran Elton Brand. Brand is also being entertained by other squads, including the Dallas Mavericks.

In Minor League Baseball, The Syracuse Chiefs and Rochester Red Wings split a doubleheader yesterday. The chiefs won the opener 5-2 and the Red Wings took the nitecap 6-5. In other action, Auburn beat Batavia 6-5, and the Binghamton Mets completed a suspended game with Altoona ... winning 4-2. The teams had a scheduled game on tap as well, but it was postponed due to the number of games Altoona has played recently. The game will get played at a later date and the teams will play again tonight.
