Syracuse University officially became a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference yesterday at a ceremony in New York, along with familiar foes Pitt and Notre Dame. Orange Men's Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim was asked again about his plans to retire. He said the change in conferences does not affect his plans, and he will let everyone know when the time comes.

All area Minor League Baseball teams will be making up games postponed by weather yesterday. Auburn and Batavia will set a date for a makeup down the road, The Syracuse Chiefs and Rochester Red Wings will play two today and Binghamton and Altoona will pick up a suspended  game in the bottom of the first, which is scoreless, and play the regularly scheduled game ... all this is weather allows it.

The New York Islanders will put Goaltender Frank DiPietro on Waivers today and exercise their buyout option on his contract ... making DiPietro a free agent.
