When the 2013 NJAC Football season begins, there will be at least two new head coaches in the ranks:

Curt Fitzpatrick is the new boss at Morrisville State, taking over for Terry Dow, who had been the head coach for 16 seasons. Fitzpatrick has been at Utica College for the last 5 seasons … serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Meanwhile, at Brockport, long time assistant coach Jason Mangone has assumed the head coaching reigns for the Golden Eagles … taking over for Rocco Salimone … who stays with the school as an assistant Athletic Director.

Interesting news from the Midwest as well … as Larry Kehres stepped aside as Coach at Mount Union last month. Kehres has been with his alma mater for 39 years as a coach … and he will continue to serve as Athletic Director for the school … his son Vince takes over as head coach … he had served as an assistant coach for 13 years … and Defensive Coordinator for the last 8 seasons … this leaves Montclair State’s Rick Giancola the active career wins leader 214 at D-3.

SUNY Cortland Swimmer Jessica Evans has been nominated for the 2013 NCAA's Woman Of the Year award. This award honors graduating female student-athletes who have excelled in their sports, as well as in the classroom, service and leadership. Evans is the lone nominee from the SUNYAC, out of a field of 151 Division III Women Athletes, and 455 overall.

In Minor League Baseball yesterday, the Syracuse Chiefs and Gwinett Braves split a doubleheader yesterday: Gwinett won the first game 5-1 and Syracuse took the second game 1-0. Elsewhere, The Binghamton Mets beat Erie 7-2 and Auburn fell to Mahoning Valley 3-1.
