The Syracuse Crunch arrived home early yesterday morning after a win in Game 5 of the Calder Cup finals Saturday. The Crunch still trail Grand Rapids 3-2 in the AHL's Calder Cup finals. Game 6 is tomorrow night in Syracuse with a deciding Game 7, if necessary, on Thursday at the War Memorial. The Crunch trailed Wilkes Barre/Scranton 3-0 and came back to win the series earlier in their playoff run.

In Minor League Baseball, the Toledo Mudhens scored four times in the 10th and beat Syracuse 8-4. The Binghamton Mets came up with a run in the 9th and walked off with a 5-4 win over Bowie, Tonight is opening night for the Auburn Doubledays, as they host the Batavia Muck Dogs tonight at Falcon Park.

SUNY Cortland Freshman Pitcher Brandon Serio has ben named the ECAC Upstate New York Rookie Of the Year, after posting a 5-1 record with a 1.21 E.R.A.. Among his wins was a 3-1 win over Amherst College in the NCAA Regionals at Auburn last month. Three of Serio's teammates, Outfielder Zach Graczyk, First Baseman Max Rosing and Designated Hitter/Catcher P.J. Rinaldi were named to the ECAC Upstate New York First Team.
