The SUNY Cortland Women's Lacrosse team begins their 2013 NCAA run today by hosting the Keuka College Storm today at 3pm. Cortland, at 18-1, is making their 15th straight NCAA appearance while the Storm, at 13-3 and champions of the North East Athletic Conference (NEAC), will make their first ever appearance in the dance. The Red Dragons boast SUNYAC Player of the year Maria DiFato and Rookie of the Year Erica Geremia, who broke the freshman scoring record a couple weeks ago.
Other Spring award winners were Men's Lax Middie Joe Slavik as SUNYAC player Of the Year and Frosh attacker Zach Hopps as the Rookie Of the Year. From the Softball team, Senior Second Baseman Lucia Meola is the Player Of The Year and Freshman Outfielder Diane Cork is the Rookie Of the Year in the SUNYAC.
Checking Tuesday's High School scoreboard ... in Boys Lacrosse: Homer downed ES-M 14-7 and Lafayette stopped Jordan-Elbridge 14-6. In Girls Lacrosse, Jamesville-Dewitt over Cortland 14-8 and Lafayette outlasting Tully 19-17, with Cassley Jackowski 11 points on 9 goals and 2 assists for the Lancers. In Baseball, Cortland Blanked ES-M 9-0, Homer routed Mexico 21-5 and Marathon edged Trumansburg 6-5. In Softball, ES-M downed Cortland 6-2, Mexico edged Homer 6-5 and Bishop Grimes downed Lafayette 8-2. In Boys Tennis, Cortland defeated Lafayette 6-1 and Jamesville-Dewitt beat Homer 5-2.
