The Syracuse Men's Basketball team heads to the nation's capital to take on Indiana in the NCAA " Sweet 16 " round this Thursday night at about 9:45 pm ... Oldies 101.5 will carry the game ... stay tuned for exact details.

In Baseball yesterday, 3rd ranked SUNY Cortland completed a weekend swept of New Paltz, winning game 1 of a doubleheader 5-1 and the second game by a 6-2 score. Cortland got great starting pitching from Mike Hughes and Kyle Barley yesterday ... and are now 3-0 in  the SUNYAC and 13-4 overall. The games were play on the turf surface at Cornell University's Hoy Field.

Derek Jeter will likely start the season on the Disabled List. Jeter's left ankle was too sore to play in a minor league game yesterday, after taking 4 at-bats Saturday and having trouble running to first.

Meanwhile, the Yanks may look to fill the void left by the injury to Curtis Granderson ... by acquiring veteran outfielder Vernon Wells from the Angels. Nobody involved would comment on this proposed deal ... but it would have to be approved by Wells, who has a no-trade clause in his contract,  and the commissioners office, due to the lofty salary Wells earns. Wells is expected to approve the deal.
