The Syracuse Men's Basketball team survived their rematch with Pitt yesterday, as they hung on for a 62-59 win over the Panthers at MSG in the Quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. James Southerland had the hot hand again with 20 points, C.J. Fair added 13, Brandon Trische had 12 and Michael Carter-Williams tallied 11 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds ... along with some big plays down the stretch.

Meanwhile, the Georgetown Hoyas had very little problem in eliminating Cincinnati 62-43 yesterday in the first game.

So, It's Syracuse and Georgetown in the first of two semi-finals tonight. Coverage starts at 6:30 with Orange Pregame on Oldies 101.5.

In the other two Quarterfinals, Louisville handled Villanova 74-55 and Notre Dame shocked Marquette 73-65. The winners meet in the late semi at about 9:30. The title game is tomorrow night at 8:30.

Otto Porter of Georgetown has been voted the Big East Men's Basketball Player Of the Year by the league's coaches. John Thompson III of Georgetown is the Coach Of The Year and Rookie Of the Year honors went to JaKaar Sampson of St. Johns.

In College Baseball yesterday SUNY Cortland held off Franklin & Marshall 9-8 yesterday in Florida.

Best Wishes to the six SUNY Cortland Wrestlers competing in the NCAA Championships in Cedar Rapids Iowa today and tomorrow ... they are: Jared Myhrberg: the top seed at 197, Lou Puca: seeded 3rd at 174, Troy Sterling: the 5th seed at 157 and Booby Dierna: the 5th seed at 149. Cortland's Alec Dierna, at 133, and Corey James, at 285, are competing as unseeded entries.
