The Syracuse Orange Men's Basketball team returns home to face Louisville Saturday at Noon ... with " Orange Pregame " at 11:30am.
That will be the first of two games heard on Oldies Radio on Saturday.
The SUNY Cortland Men's Basketball team has drawn Elms College in Round 1 of the NCAA Tournament this Saturday. Game time is set for 4pm. Oldies 101.5 will present this game on the radio starting at 3:40pm. Bring your radios to the game and support your hometown Red Dragons in their NCAA Tournament Run.
Red Dragon Men's Basketball Coach Tom Spanbauer has been name the SUNYAC Coach Of the Year for the 5th time in his career at Cortland. Spanbauer led Cortland to their first SUNYAC Tournament title in 13 years this past weekend and has won 305 games in his career at the helm of his alma mater. 3 players from Spanbauer's squad have been named to the all-conference teams: Senior Guard Jesse Winter is an All-SUNYAC First team selection, classmate and Guard Jeremy Smith is on the Second team and Junior Forward Kevin McMahon has been named to the Third Team. Smith was also named the SUNYAC Player Of the Week after being named MVP of last week's SUNYAC tournament.
On The Women's side, Cortland Junior Guard Meghan Touhey is a Second Team All-SUNYAC Selection.
Also from SUNY Cortland, Freshman goaltender Deanna Meurnier has been named the ECAC West Rookie Of the Year and a Second Team all-league selection. She is joined by Senior forward Maggie Giamo as an Honorable Mention All-Conference Selection, and by Freshman Defender Madison Fischl on the All-Rookie squad.
TC3 Freshman Tyseem Lyles has been named the Mid-State Athletic Conference Player Of the Year and coach David Stevenson Coach Of the Year. Lyles is joined on the All-Conference team by Jaanai Beckford The Panthers begin the NJCAA regional playoffs on Friday.
On the Women's side, Freshman Becca Holton Tomasdottir was named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference team as well.
The Lady Panthers are still alive in the playoffs as well ... after beating Schenectady County C.C. 77-67 in overtime at home last night. Moravia grad Meghan Ideman tallied 22 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists while Dryden alum Audrey-Kate Ordway pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. The Panthers head to Top Seed Mohawk Valley C.C. on Friday for a Quarterfinal Matchup.
The Cincinnatus Boys Basketball team will meet New York Mills in the Section III/Class "D" final at the Carrier Dome at 12:45pm Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately no teams from the area will play in the Class "C" game ... as the "C-1" title game saw Tully losing to Beaver River 77-58, while the "C-2" championship had Fabius-Pompey falling at Mohawk 68-46.
