The 9th ranked Syracuse Orange will take on St. Johns on Sunday afternoon at the Dome. Coverage on Oldies 101.5 begins at 2:30 with Orange Pregame ... tip off is at 3pm. The Red Storm defeated U-Conn 71-65 last night in Big East play.
Other scores from the Big East last night: Providence upset Cincinnati 54-50, Louisville knocked off Rutgers 68-48 and Marquette cruised by South Florida 70-48. The conference is off until Saturday.
The TC3 Women's Basketball team was upset by Corning Community College 60-52 last night at Corning. The Panthers fall to 5-5 and into 4th place in the Mid State Athletic Conference. Moravia Grad Meghan Ideman tallied 9 points and 9 Rebounds in the loss. Meanwhile the TC3 Men won their 13th in their last 14 games by an 81-67 score over Corning C.C. behind Devin Reddon's 21 points and 4 assists. The Panthers are 9-1 in the conference and 17-4 overall.
The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons Men's and Women's Basketball teams will host Oswego tomorrow night at Corey Gym ... the ladies tip at 6pm, and are tied with Oswego for 3rd place in the SUNYAC ... the Men's team will celebrate Senior night and tip at about 8pm ... needing to go 3-1 in their last four games to clinch the regular season SUNYAC title without losses by other teams in the race. The Cortland Men have a 10 game winning streak and are in 1st place in the SUNYAC by 2 games over Geneseo heading into Friday's matchup with the defending champion Lakers, whom they beat 75-69 on January 26th. Oswego is in 4th place ... and a half-game behind Plattsburgh in the standings. Both Cortland and Oswego have a meeting with Plattsburgh on the road next weekend in the final week of regular-season play.
In other area College Hoops notes. Cortland High Grad Jordan Prior was one of four double-figure scorers last night in Morrisville State's 77-65 win over Wells College. Prior finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Meanwhile Maggie Brown (Cortland High) tallied 9 points and 9 rebounds, but the Lemoyne Women's Basketball team fell at St, Rose61-54 last night.
In High School Sports Last Night: Boys Hoops: Cincinnatus over Otselic Valley 60-54, Deruyter over Stockbridge Valley 45-41, Lafayette over Manlius-Pebble Hill 62-43 and Fabius-Pompey 56-44. In Boys Ice Hockey, Ithaca and CBA/JD skated to a 3-3 tie.
