The 9th ranked Syracuse Orange will take on St. Johns on Sunday afternoon at the Dome. Coverage on Oldies 101.5 begins at 2:30 with Orange Pregame ... tip off is at 3pm.
Jesse Winter scored 13 points, the last two on a layup with 17:41 remaining in the second half, and set a new career scoring mark with 1,421 points ... and counting, as Cortland defeated Oneonta State 84-56 ... picking up their 10th win in a row and the 300th win as Cortland's Head Coach for Tom Spanbauer. Winter was one of six players in double figures last night ... with reigning SUNYAC player of the week Kevin McMahon's 15 points and 10 rebounds and Harrison Hefele's team high 16 points leading the way.
The SUNY Cortland Women's Basketball team moved into a tie for 3rd with Oswego with a 58-44 win over Oneonta State ... and Reigning SUNYAC Women's Hoops Player Of the Week Meghan Touhey tallying 17 points and Caysea Cohen adding 12 more.
The Red Dragons will host Oswego Friday night ... the ladies tip at 6pm ... the Men's team will celebrate Senior night and tip at about 8pm ... needing to go 3-1 in their last four games to clinch the regular season SUNYAC title without losses by other teams in the race.
In High School Sports Last Night: Boys Hoops: (#15) McGraw over Madison 65-52, Whitney Point Over Groton 71-42, Marathon over Union Springs 55-38, Dryden over Trumansburg 70-42 and Moravia over Lansing 60-42. Girls Hoops: Stockbridge Valley over Cincinnatus 48-30, Fabius-Pompey over Port Byron 50-14, Onondaga over Tully 37-34, Lansing beat Moravia 42-22 and Trumansburg over Dryden 45-39. Girls Volleyball Sectionals: Tully over Canastota 3-1 and Blessed Virgin Mary over Deruyter 3-1.
