The New York Jets held a closed-to-the-public practice this morning, and reports are they began to place some " wildcat " plays into their offense. The media that was present was allowed to watch but not film as new portions of the offense were installed. The public is invited to two more practices which will take place tomorrow and Wednesday mornings at 8:30. Tomorrow is " Oldies 101.5 " day and we will be broadcasting live from the practice.
The Jets made announced a roster move yesterday, with Punter Travis Baltz being put on waivers.
NASCAR's Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen was won, for the second straight year, by Marcos Ambrose. Ambrose out-dueled Brad Keslowski on the final lap to take the checkered flag. Jimmy Johnson, Clint Bowyer and Sam Hornish Jr. rounded out the top 5. The later laps were littered by incidents of drivers spinning out due to, what many afterwards said was, a large amount of oil and fluids on the track.
The Syracuse Chiefs and Empire State Yankees split a doubleheader yesterday with the Chiefs winning 3-1 in the opener and the Yankees claiming the nightcap 1-0. The teams meet again tonight in Syracuse. Meanwhile the Binghamton Mets beat Harrisburg 7-2 and the Auburn Doubledays knocked off Mahoning Valley 8-4. Both of those teams have tonight off.
