The youngest of the " Powell " brothers will not follow his brothers to Syracuse. Mason Powell has chosen SUNY Cortland as his college and will play for Coach Steve Beville on the Men's Lacrosse team starting with this year's fall program which gets going next month. Mason Powell led the Cazenovia High School Boys Lacrosse and Ice Hockey teams to state championships as a Junior before heading to the Hill Academy in Ontario for his Senior year. Mason's brother Casey was an Assistant Coach at Cortland for the 2008 season.

Indianapolis beat Syracuse 2-1 in Minor League Baseball last night. The Chiefs have today off. Meanwhile The Binghamton Mets best New Hampshire 1-0 and Auburn beat State College 3-1, with both those series continuing tonight in Binghamton and Syracuse Respectively.

Former New York Jets Safety Jim Leonhard practiced for the first time with his new team, the Denver Broncos, yesterday, Leonhard had knee surgery last December.

The Jets meet the Carolina Panthers this Sunday night in their third pre-season game starting at 8pm. The pregame show on Oldies 101.5 starts at 7pm.

Our High School and College Football coverage begin next week as well ... the Cortland/Homer game will be week 1 of our high school coverage Thursday night August 30th at 7pm and the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons open at Buffalo State on Saturday September 1st at noon.
