Mark Sanchez threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns, two each to rookie Stephan Hill and Jeremy Kurley, as the Jets soared past the Bills 48-28 in the regular season opener for both teams. Kurley also returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown.

The Jets head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers next Sunday ... game time is 4:15 ... Coverage begins shortly after 3pm on Oldies 101.5.

Also this week, it's Homecoming at Cortland High School and the Purple Tigers will host Gary Griffo's Westhill Warriors in a " Class B " showdown Friday Night at 7pm ... it's Oldies 101.5's game of the week with Coverage beginning at 6:45.

The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons will host Western Connecticut State in their home opener this Saturday at 1pm. Cortland had a bye last Saturday after a defeat at Buffalo State the previous week. Coverage begins at 12:25 with the pregame show on Oldies 101.5.

In other Red Dragons action from Sunday, the Women's Soccer team used an Emma Whittle goal late in the first half to hold off Bard 1-0 ... Cortland is 2-0-2 on the season ... and the Women's Golf team finished third with a team record score of 325 at the rain-shortened St. Lawrence Invitational. Ithaca native Rebecca Studin finished with a round of 77, and tied for 5th individually.

The Auburn Doubledays will play the deciding game of their three game series with Tri-City tonight after a 5-2 win on the road last night. The series was delayed one day by weather.

The Yankees hold a one game lead Over Baltimore and a 2 game advantage over Tampa Bay in the AL East after trouncing the O's 13-3 yesterday. All three teams are off tonight. Meanwhile, the Mets will host Washington tonight.
