David Lynch-Directed Duran Duran Movie Coming To Theaters
A new Duran Duran concert film will hit theaters next month, according to Vintage Vinyl News. The movie, Duran Duran: Unstaged, is directed by David Lynch, best known for such classics as Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and the Twin Peaks TV series, among others. Duran Duran: Unstaged will play for one night only on September 10th, with tickets for the showings all going on sale tomorrow (Friday, August 15th).
The concert doc was filmed on March 11th, 2011 at L.A.’s Mayan Theatre. Lynch directed the live online stream, which he went back yo and "enhanced" for Unstaged. Guests appearing in the doc are Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, the Gossip’s Beth Ditto, DJ/producer Mark Ronson, and Kelis.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes told us that Duran Duran becoming influences for a new generation of fans is the best compliment they could be paid: "I suppose a lot of younger bands have been citing us as an influence recently -- bands that have been very popular. And that always helps I think to get through to the next generation too."
There's been no announcement when Duran Duran: Unstaged will find its way to DVD.
