Joe Walsh Recording With Foo Fighters, Prepping Solo Blues Album
Joe Walsh revealed that he’s been recording with the Foo Fighters -- along with prepping his own solo album. Walsh, who along with the Eagles, will kick off a European leg on May 22nd in Amsterdam, told Billboard, "I’ve been playing on other people's stuff. I was a Foo Fighter for two days, I joined the Foo Fighters for two days and I played on a track of theirs that's gonna come out. I played on a War song, I love War. They sent me a song and I put guitar on that, so I'm a low rider and a Foo Fighter. I know them, my drummer when I play solo, Drew Hester, is a great friend of all of those guys, so I hooked up through him."
Walsh also said that both and the Eagles have been busy in the studio, saying: "We've got some stuff in the can. . . I’ve got a blues album."
When pressed about teaming up again with producer Jeff Lynne of ELO fame after the success of his 2012 hit album, Analog Man, Walsh said, "I hope we get to work together again in the future. He's amazing. He's another crusty old veteran." Walsh was asked about who he would enlist if he was to start his own supergroup -- like the Traveling Wilburys -- and admitted: "I'd have to think about that. Probably Bob Seger would have to be in the band."
Joe Walsh explained how the unlikely, but brilliant collaboration with Jeff Lynne came to be in the first place: "I met Jeff through my wife, Marjorie -- Jeff's a dear old friend of hers, and so I met Jeff. And back in the day, ELO and the James Gang had played a couple of gigs together, but Jeff and I never really got a chance to hang out. We just met socially and that led to a 'show and tell.' He's in the middle of a project, and of course I had my unfinished album. So we played some of that for each other."
