Jimmy Page Previews Led Zeppelin Rarities For NYC Rock Press
Jimmy Page presented a smattering of bonus cuts from the expanded Led Zeppelin reissues to a few dozen rock reporters in New York City yesterday (May 13th). Page previewed previously unreleased alternate tracks from the first three Zeppelin remasters due out on June 3rd, before chatting with reporters about the tunes.
The tracks previewed were "Good Times Bad Times/Communication Breakdown" and "You Shook Me" from an October 1969 live shown in Paris, which is featured on Led Zeppelin I. Led Zeppelin II was represented by previously unheard versions of "Heartbreaker" and "Whole Lotta Love." The band’s 1970 Led Zeppelin III set featured fascinating run-throughs of "Gallows Pole," "Since I've Been Loving You," "Immigrant Song," and an acoustic medley of "Key To The Highway/Trouble In Mind."
Over 30 years since Zeppelin's last studio album -- the outtakes collection, Coda -- was released, Jimmy Page is astounded at the reverence Zeppelin's fans still hold for the band: "The most satisfying, the most rewarding part of it, is having been part of music like that, which has stood up to the test of time. Every musician hopes that their music will hold up. And it's wonderful."
