It seems as though Roger Daltrey has quietly booked a few solo shows in the coming months. Leave it to the die-hard fans at TheWho.com’s message board to sniff out Daltrey’s upcoming yet-to-be announced gigs -- including a July 28th Teenage Cancer America benefit concert at Philadelphia's Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. According to the post, local heroine Joan Jett will also be on the bill, with V.I.P. meet and greet packages available alongside tickets ranging from $100 to $200.
In addition to the Philly Cancer benefit, Vividseats.com has a listing for a Daltrey show on October 25th in Palm Desert, California at McCallum Theatre. So far, there’s been no official listing for the date on either TheWho.com or Pollstar.com -- but that hardly means that the show isn’t happening.
In addition to his work with Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey continues to tour on his own and play charity gigs as much as possible. He admits that at this stage of the game -- especially with Who shows looming in the not too distant future -- he physically needs to sing as often as he can: "If I ever stopped singing, I wouldn't be able to do this, so I just make sure I just keep singing, keep the voice in. You've got to keep doing it, especially singing like the way I sing. I could do some serious damage if I stop, so I've just gotta keep going."
