Sammy Hagar Hitting The Road With Michael Anthony And Jason Bonham
It seems that there was a reason why Sammy Hagar’s new tour dates went billed as being played with the Wabos. Vintage Vinyl News reported the "Red Rocker" is joining forces with Van Halen and Chickenfoot bandmate Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham, and Wabos guitarist Vic Johnson, for the summer run, which is dubbed "A Journey Through The History Of Rock." Last summer Hagar and Anthony teamed up with former members of Montrose for the "Four Decades Of Rock" tour.
Sammy Hagar has always let it be known that his musical allegiance lies with Michael Anthony. Upon Van Halen's initial return with David Lee Roth, Hagar told us that replacing Anthony with Wofgang Van Halen was a misstep, to say the least: "Anyone in their right mind would know if you're gonna get Roth back -- finally! -- after all these abortions they've had, you get Mikey and you do the reunion tour, what the world really was waiting for. Not just f*** it up again. It's almost like they don't care about their fans. They just want to badger 'em until -- see how much they'll take."
