Gregg Allman Says The Allman Brothers Band Not Breaking Up
Well, it seems that the Allman Brothers Band may not be breaking up after all. Gregg Allman, whose recent bout with bronchitis forced the band to cancel its final shows of their "March Madness" run at New York City's Beacon Theater, revealed to Radio.com: "As for the rumor of the brothers breaking up after 45 years, in other words, after this year. That is a rumor. We are not breaking up. We are replacing (guitarist) Derek Trucks." Allman's about face in ending the band may be due to him bowing to pressure from the band's other co-founding members -- drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe. Trucks' nephew Derek Trucks -- along with longtime guitarist Warren Haynes both announced their departure in 2015, with Allman going on record as saying the band was packing it in as well.

Butch Trucks spoke about the state of the Allmans in light of his nephew leaving the band, telling MiamiNewTimes.com, "That kind of triggered Warren to follow and say, 'Well if Derek is going to leave then it may not be as good so let's call it quits.' As soon as the two of them made the announcement then Gregg said, 'Okay, then this is the end of the line for the Allman Brothers,' which he really doesn't have the power to do but whatever. We'll just have to wait and see."

Galadrielle Allman (pronounced GOLLA-dree-ell), the daughter of late-guitarist Duane Allman has just published the biography Please Be With Me: A Song For My Father. Galadrielle helped compile the recent seven-published set, Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective, and told us she doesn't read too much into her father's fatal motorcycle crash on October 29th, 1971: "I really resist making meaning out of his death or saying there was a reason for it. Like he had to. . . his time was up, or that he knew his time was up -- or any of that. Y’know, I think, it’s a tragic accident and a meaningless accident. And I’m just not one to sort of be accepting of that. I just think it’s a true tragedy."
