Ringo Starr's Upcoming Album Gaining Steam
Ringo Starr’s upcoming album is gaining steam with past All Starr Band members Peter Frampton and Richard Marx having recorded their contributions. Frampton posted on Facebook that he played on two songs, and Marx uploaded a shot off him and Ringo holding a lyric sheet, presumably on the new song they wrote together.
The sessions have previously included current All Starr Band guitarist, Toto leader, Steve Lukather -- who, along with Frampton, backed Ringo both at the recent Grammy Awards telecast, as well as the Grammy salute to the Beatles. The new album -- the followup to Ringo 2012 -- is expected out by the fall.
We told Ringo that the thing that we liked best about his two prior self-produced albums, 2010's Y Not and Ringo 2012 was that it's pretty much as stripped down as he's ever allowed himself to be in the studio: "It is stripped down. I like space. Y'know, it's like my drumming, there's lots of space. For me, it's better that you don't do a fill than really do one -- it's as important that you leave air on the track. And that's what I tend to do, with the records I produce."
