Boston Announces 2014 Tour
Boston, led by guitarist-songwriter- producer Tom Scholz will hit the road later this spring in support of the band’s new album Love, Life, And Hope. Boston kicks off its dates on June 5th at Hollywood, Florida’s Hard Rock Live and, as of now, winds things down on August 12th in Springfield, Illinois at the Illinois State Fair. The band’s schedule has no dates set for July, which will probably change by the tour’s opening night.
Love, Life, And Hope, which was released in December, peaked at Number 37 on the Billboard 200 album charts and marked the band’s followup to 2002’s Corporate America collection and the first to be released since the 2007 suicide of beloved frontman, Brad Delp. The new collection includes lead vocals from Delp, Tommy DeCarlo, Kimberley Dahme, David Victor, and Scholz, himself.
We asked Tom Scholz to explain to us why it takes him so long to finish an album, while other acts get their records out much faster -- and he said that the band's high turnaround with new product has nothing to do with the artists: "Some producer is pushing it, some manager is pushing it, somebody that's interested just in the bottom-line dollar is usually calling the shots and forcing that they have a limited amount of time, they have a limited budget, they can't do it. I don't think there's a lot of artists that go into a studio and think, 'I wanna finish this in three months because I'll make a lot more money if I do that.' That's the farthest thing from my mind when I go into the studio, and it takes me a long time to get something that I'm willing to have millions of copies made of and have circulating around."
