Keith Richards Credits Rock For Allowing Him To See The World
With The Rolling Stones' 14 On Fire Tour up and running no one is happier the Keith Richards, who admittedly, lives to be on the road. Richards has openly been eager for partner Mick Jagger to commit to a new tour following the band’s seven-year layoff following the end of its 2005/2006 A Bigger Bang Tour, and told Time Out Hong Kong that rock n’ roll provided him with a sailor’s life, explaining, "Every country is different and you do come away with distinct memories of different places, y’know? I can’t say that everything isn’t a blur. That’s probably more my fault (laughs), But I’m always incredibly interested in traveling and if you want a job, you can’t do better than the Royal Navy -- you see the world, mate, and I’ve certainly seen it a few times."

He went on to explain that he's seen the world change globally over the Stones' 50-year run: "What’s interesting is the return to places, seeing what’s changed and what’s going on. Once you've been somewhere and worked there, they’re always somewhere in the back of your mind and in your heart."

Keith Richards was asked who out of all the Stones has been most itching to get back on the road: "I'm always itching, so you can put me at a definite Number One. But, I'd say that there's a certain kind of collective itch (laughs) that goes on eventually.

And we all sort of look at each other and say, 'Well, you up for it?' And then we start scratching. Y'know, it's one of those things.
Nobody seems to make a real decision and say: 'We're gonna do this or that.' It sort of a look in the eye, really, 'and say, 'Come on, let's go (laughs)'" in Tokyo, Japan.
