The Rolling Stones Rehearsed 60 Songs For Tour, Considering 'Duets' Album
The Rolling Stones rehearsed a total of 60 songs for possible inclusion in their current 14 On Fire Tour setlists, according to Ultimate-Guitar.com. Ron Wood shed some light into the Stones' pre-tour warm-ups, telling a United Arab Emirates radio station, before the group's opening night show on February 21st in Abu Dhabi, "We just rehearsed in the last three or four days 60 songs, and we haven't stopped yet. We're going to get a whole big cross-section and take the most fitting for the set list, and try and adapt it to new audiences and new territories and territories we haven't played in years."
When pressed about some new Stones studio tracks, Wood admitted, "I don't know -- we've got to get these gigs over first."
Wood went on to reveal that frontman Mick Jagger has been eyeing a possible Stones "duets" album in the future, explaining, "Sometimes we do duets with different rock artists over the world, and I think that's in the back of his mind, to make an album with some of the guests we have."
40 years since first jamming together, Ron Wood says that he and Keith Richards have a sixth sense about how to intertwine their guitar work onstage: "That was something that Keith and I have always luckily had from the start. We never planned, as such, what we are gonna do individually. We have a knack of if one goes this way, the other one will slide in this way. On a certain number, we don't even look at each other. If I wanna take the solo, I'll take it, right? And if he wants to take it, he'll take it."
