Will 2014 mark the return of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young? Following last fall's CSNY appearance at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit in Northern California, Graham Nash went in record saying that he's hopeful that all four members will hit the road later this year -- possibly in support of the first live collection from the group's legendary 1974 concert tour, which he's been compiling.
Nash spoke to Record Collector and was asked what extra element Young brings to the Crosby, Stills, & Nash dynamic, and said, "Two words: Neil Young. I mean, he's an incredible musician and an incredible writer. He has a certain intensity and it rubs off on us. Our music is different because of it."
He touched on the fact that Young has always been the wild card element in the group, explaining, "When Neil commits to something, his whole heart is in it. When CSNY is making music he's totally committed to it. It's just that he's got so much else going on in his life."
Graham Nash, who has always found himself to be the intermediary between his partners, says things are good between the musicians these days and chalks it up to the extra effort Stephen Stills is now bringing to live show: "He's singing in tune better, he's playing his guitar better. Crosby is not looking at him on the side of the stage giving him stink eye because he played the wrong note, or sang a wrong note, or whatever the reason. And those two are getting on much better than they ever did."
