Paul Stanley Says Kiss Rock Hall Nod Is Being Given 'Begrudgingly'
You just can't please Paul Stanley. He's got an issue when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn't induct Kiss -- and now he's got an issue when the Hall does finally induct the band. Kiss, who has been passed over by the Hall since 1998, is taking their long-overdue induction with a grain of salt, with Stanley telling Classic Rock that it feels like a case of a little too little and a little too late to mean anything for him, explaining, "It was done begrudgingly and because it had become absolutely ludicrous that they were choosing to ignore us. At the end of the day most people don’t realize that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was a privately created establishment and that it has a self-appointed board. It’s a perfect case of perception becoming reality. People heard 'Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame' and gave it credibility."

He went on to say: "So whether it deserves the title has to be weighed against who it inducts. So was it an honor to be nominated? No. It means a lot to the fans and I understand it because it’s validation for them. So for that reason I accept graciously and accept on their behalf."

Stanley went on to throw a wrench in the presumed Kiss reunion for the awards adding: "I have no plans at the moment to do anything, and that includes playing with Ace (Frehley) and Peter (Criss) or anyone else. My plan at the moment is to go and accept the award."

Gene Simmons remains the one member of Kiss over the years that -- along with Stanley -- has stayed committed to the idea of Kiss being a living, breathing viable band. Stanley admits that at first Simmons tried his patience: "Yeah, I found him very hard to deal with, and I know to this day I'm not alone (laughs). But, y'know, we, we have come a long way since then, and Gene is as close to me as a, y'know, a brother. And the beauty of family doesn't mean you want to spend every minute with somebody, but it means that you can always depend on them. We know that we're there for each other, and we've been very, very lucky."
