Kiss' Gene Simmons will appear in an episode of CBS' CSI set to air on March 12th, according to Billboard. CSI executive producers Don McGill and Carol Mendelsohn issued a statement to The Hollywood Reported saying; "We're really excited to have Gene Simmons guest-starring on CSI, playing himself in a rock-and-roll-themed murder mystery." Simmons has previously made small screen cameos as himself on Castle and Ugly Betty.
Simmons, who's never been one to hold his tongue about most things, took time out to slam "stupid" rock stars, telling Repubblica.it, "There is a smart rock n' roll lifestyle and a stupid rock n' roll lifestyle. No one ever talks about the intelligent one, while the stupid one has always appealed to many. But in the end the coolest rock stars are all dead. Perhaps they were the coolest, but they are dead now."
He went on to say, "Jimi Hendrix is dead, Jim Morrison is dead, Kurt Cobain is dead. . . I am clever and I'll survive because I live a smart rock n' roll life. I've never done drugs and it's a personal choice, I am not interested in harming myself. If you want to run your personal marathon you gotta go at your own pace, it doesn't matter if someone else overtakes you, the turtle will win, and turtles know rock n' roll."
Gene Simmons told us about confronting yet another would-be rock star, he's convinced has made a potentially dumb career move: "And this Adam. . . guy, who I told backstage when Queen opened for us when we did the final American Idol, that he should be the lead singer in Queen -- and I told Brian May that, and Brian agreed, and Adam Lambert said straight to my face: 'No, I'd rather have a solo career.' In the dictionary there's a phrase; I think the word is 'insane,' (with) the photo of the kid in there. 'Coulda had a solo career and instant rock credibility by becoming the lead singer of Queen."
