Jackson Browne Tribute Disc Features Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley & Bonnie Raitt
Coming on April 1st will be the all-star double disc Jackson Browne tribute album, called, Looking Into You: A Tribute To Jackson Browne. Among the notable artists contributing to the set are Bruce Springsteen & Patti Scialfa, Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, the Indigo Girls, Lyle Lovett, Ben Harper, Bruce Hornsby, Joan Osborne, Marc Cohn, Karla Bonoff, and Lucinda Williams, among others.
The album's co-producer, Tamara Saviano, spoke about the album to Ultimate Classic Rock, explaining, "In the past, I used a house band and would create the arrangements ahead of time. But for this album we relied solely on the artists to create their own vision for the songs and gave them complete control over the instrumentation and arrangement. It was a challenge, but it struck me how excited everyone was to honor Jackson in their own way."
Jackson Browne's two recent Solo Acoustic live CDs marked his first foray into releasing his albums independently of a major label. He admits that although he's enjoyed his success, it's never been why he's made music: "You still have to make art, whether anybody knows what you're talking about or not. Aside from wanting to conduct business in a responsible way -- sell as many records, reach as many people as you can -- the point is not to sell as, y'know, just to move as many units as possible. The point is, for me, has always been, 'Do something that I like.'"
