Despite Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan being initially left in the dark about covert plans to reform the band with Rod Stewart, the reunion will hopefully happen this year. McLagan recently snapped when hearing that Rod, following years of delays, finally has deemed 2014 the year of the Faces -- to which McLagan slammed back that it wasn't and that the year would be devoted to celebrating the Small Faces 50th anniversary -- with Rod having to wait until next year to make good on his plans to rejoin McLagan, Ron Wood, and Kenney Jones.
Faces drummer Kenney Jones told is that plans are indeed progressing for Rod Stewart's long-awaited concert return with the Faces: "Mac unfortunately didn't know we were taking -- Woody's management, myself and we were talking to Rod's management -- but Mac never knew, 'cause it's only in its early stages. But now, it wasn't a surprise to me. Mac understands it fully now. It'll be lovely to do; we've been talking about it for long enough. So unless you book, unless you start thinking about it a year ahead, at least, and whatever. . . And I think now (Rod's) discovered himself again, which is what I'm hearing all the time is that he's discovered. . . a bit more back to his roots -- a bit more rock n' roll. The Faces never finished on a good note. So, it'd be good to finish on a good note and that would be that."
