Confirmed: Christine McVie Back In Fleetwood Mac!!!
Although Mick Fleetwood broke the news earlier this week during a side gig in Hawaii, Fleetwood Mac's rep has confirmed that after a 15-year hiatus, keyboardist Christine McVie has rejoined Fleetwood Mac. CNN reported publicist Liz Rosenberg issuing a statement saying, "Christine McVie has rejoined Fleetwood Mac and there may be an announcement about a potential tour for all the Macsters down the road."
Although the band initially tried to keep several of McVie's songs in their setlists, this past tour, only two -- the 1977 Top Three hit "Don't Stop" and her 1975 co-write with Lindsey Buckingham -- "World Turning" -- managed to make the band's final cut.
Stevie Nicks told us that the Fleetwood Mac's hiatuses are important for re-energizing and centering the band: "People always tend to say, 'Y'know, you broke up, y'know, in 2009.' We didn't break up. We never break up. We just take a break, and then Lindsey goes and does his solo stuff, I do the same thing, Mick (Fleetwood) plays in his blues band all over Hawaii -- he's opened a restaurant. John McVie lives in Oahu, which is where he's always wanted to live, where he has boat, and he's like a Hawaiian. So, it's like, everybody's ready. That makes it really special and it makes it something that everybody looks forward to. It's like a fantastic Halloween party that you haven't been to a Halloween party in three years."
Christine McVie left Fleetwood Mac shortly after their 1997 reunion tour, and since then has released her third solo album, 2004's In The Meantime, which she collaborated on with her nephew, Dan Perfect.
