Report: Mick Fleetwood Says Christine McVie Back In Fleetwood Mac
After a 15 year hiatus, Christine McVie will reportedly be rejoining Fleetwood Mac. FleetwoodMacNews.com reported that during Mick Fleetwood's January 11th performance in Maui, Hawaii at the Maui Tropical Plantation, after which he and musical Willie K. performed an acoustic rendition of McVie's Rumours weeper, "Songbird," Fleetwood told the crowd: "This is the worst kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac!" As it stands now McVie's former husband, bassist John McVie, is wrapping cancer treatment and insider word is that the band will be hitting the road sometime this year.
Christine popped up at two London shows in September -- closing each night with her 1977 Rumours classic "Don't Stop" and last month told The Guardian that she would be "delighted" if the band asked her to rejoin the group. Stevie Nicks told Billboard: "If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, 'It's your band. I don't really think you have to ask. Because it's your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?" Nicks explained that a nightly "two-hour and 45 minute show" is a "job of champions" that "is not easy, 'cause we are not young. And we are out there rocking for almost three solid hours. . . I don't know what she'll do. Story to come. To be continued."
Lindsey Buckingham told us that fans tend to over-romanticize what a horrendous period the recording of Rumours was for the members of Fleetwood Mac: "If there was one worst thing it was probably just it was difficult for all four of us as two couples to have broken up to be alienated -- probably not to have gotten anything close to closure -- and to still have to kind of move forward. And to do that you kind of had to compartmentalize your emotions a little bit. You had to seal one thing off here and get on with it there. It was kind of an exercise in denial."
